This part of my education blog is dedicated to the upcoming election. This is entitled ‘The Race Is On’! In November, the Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board will get at least one new member. This is the year of at-large school board elections. Both Coach Joe White and Trent Merchant, current at-large members have announced that they will not be running for at-large seats in this election. Current at-large member Kay McGarry has not announced her intentions. District 6 member, Tim Morgan has announced that he will run for at-large. This was done at a June 30th press conference at the government center. Who else will run for school board? Looks for more updates under ‘The Race Is On’ section soon!

UPDATE: We now know that the School Board will get three new members. One board member running is an incumbent. So at least two new members will be elected in 10 weeks. Also the board will be choosing a new superintendent soon. The board will need some new leaders.
